How it all started...

Tim and I always knew we wanted the chance to live in Canada, so when opportunity knocked, we answered. When Tim went on the job market in 2008, as he was nearing the completion of his PhD, we agreed it would be a good time to see if there were any jobs in Canada.

Low and behold, he got several offers for jobs in various provinces across Canada (and a few in the States as well). When he accepted the job in Alberta, the immigration process began with a Labour Market Opinion (LMO). His employer did not have the faintest idea of what was involved in this process, so out of necessity, Tim self-educated on the process then informed the employer of the necessary steps.

From the books we read, the immigration process seemed very straight forward, albeit a bit of hoop jumping. We quickly realized that the process is all but straight forward when you are going through the process without a lawyer, especially since we did not have the support of the employer--financially or logistically. Week after week, month after month of telling our friends and family in the States about the latest immigration-related challenge, they told us we should write a book about our experiences to help other potential immigrants to Canada. So here we are, writing "Moving to Canada, Eh?" and are currently searching for a literary agent to help us through the publishing process.

We continue to search for immigration-related stories to add to the depth of our book, if you have one (or many) that you would like to share, please post them or email them to me!
